Putting one of Bourjois newest foundations to the test.
Straight off the bat let me say my skin is complicated. One minute it’s oily the next I have dry patches… I can’t keep up. Maybe it’s the weather mixed with artificial heating or maybe I’m just weird… ok you got me it’s the second one!
It has been a long time since I’v been wow-ed by a foundation *spoiler*, especially one from the drugstore, but I am very impressed by the Air Mat foundation by Bourjois.
It claims to be light weight, provides perfect coverage, an undetectable matte finish and have a 24 hour hold.
Like most people I cannot comment on that last claim because I do not wear makeup for 24 hours, but let me share my first, second and third impressions with you. (Side note: I usually wear foundation for up to 8 hours, sometimes longer).
The foundation itself has an almost moussey consistency to it and feels light when putting it on my hand. For my application I used a brush to gently buff in the product, but I also used a beauty blender to create more of a flawless finish.
It provides medium coverage but is buildable. I added a bit more on my cheeks as that’s where I get redness and it did not cake. Although this is a matte foundation I found that it was more of a semi-matte finish on my skin so I did use a small amount of powder, as well as setting it with a makeup setting spray. Plus I thought that adding powder was a good test to see if it would cake up, which has previously happened with other matte foundations.
Throughout the day I did not feel like I was wearing makeup *fist pump* and did not have to touch up with powder, even in my more oily areas *double fist pump* and most importantly it stayed looking great throughout the day.
Overall it was a great experience and it has become one of my go-to everyday foundations.
I am looking forward to trying Bourjois’s newest edition to its foundation family, the City Radiance foundation and concealer when they eventually appear in my local Boots or Superdrug, so if any of you have tried these comment below and let me know your thoughts!
