Waffles | The Brunch Edit

waffles | The Brunch Edit

We’ve done pancakes, now comes waffles.

I recently purchased a waffle maker and OMG I love it! Yes it’s a gadget I didn’t really need, but it’s a waffle maker that makes waffles… and I can make them for when people come over or stay the night, and be an amazing host and make them waffles the next morning… Ok, yes I can justify it to myself but probably not to everyone else. But hey, it’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time and I eventually gave in. Plus it’s good to treat yourself once in a while!

I’m not going to go in depth about the waffle maker I bought as I’m probably going to do a kitchen gadgets post down the line about what gadgets are worth the spend, what ones aren’t and ones that are weird but are actually really useful. However, I will say that on first impressions it is really good and super easy.

Like with my pancakes I used Betty Crocker’s Bisquick Gluten Free Pancake & Baking Mix as this was my first time making waffles and I wanted them to turn out well, however I will be doing a variety of seasonal (and majorly tasty) waffle recipes in the coming months, so stay tuned for those!

The recipe I used is on the Bisquick box, but incase your using something else or would like to know, here it is:

1⅓ cups Bisquick Gluten Free mix
1¼ cups milk (I used Alpro Soya Light)
3 Tbsp Vegetable oil
1 Egg

Decorate with fruit, maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, ice cream, chocolate sauce or go savoury with scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms and even fried chicken (I’ve heard this is good – maybe it’s an American thing?).

There’s so many ways to customise your perfect waffles.

If you have any suggestions / want to see me try out any waffle recipes involving certain ingredients then let me know! I’m hoping to do a vegan version, a few seasonal ones (but I’m not going to spoil the surprise by telling you), and maybe a savoury style waffle. The ideas are endless.

It's definitely more of a dessert but I love waffles with Nutella or melted dark chocolate and some strawberries and bananas! Also, why on earth don't I own a waffle maker yet?
