7 Of The Best Autumn Lipsticks

It’s that time of year where we root around to find our knitwear and winter accessories from their hiding places to replace them with our summer and holiday clothes.

The same could also be said of makeup. Goodbye to those bright bold lipsticks, we’ll see you next year! But maybe leave that special one out just in case your feeling wild.

Don’t have any autumnal shades in your collection? Don’t sweat it, I’ve got you covered with seven of my all time favourites ranging from drugstore to high end, so there is something for everyone.

You’ve probably already noticed a theme in my favourites, I love mauve toned lipsticks and reds with a hint of another colour – so basically anything but a true red. That’s not to say I don’t like a true red, but it’s not my go-to shade.

What’s great about these seven lipsticks is that they are great for all skin tones, especially my pale girls and guys. So let’s get to it…

1. MAC Syrup

A great everyday pink with a slight mauve undertone, which makes it perfect for those no makeup-makeup days. This lipstick is in a lustre finish, and is very comfortable on the lips.

2. Maybelline Colour Sensational in Divine Wine
Deep vampy red shade labelled as a matte finish, but on me it’s somewhere in between a satin and a matte. As this is a deeper shade I would recommend wearing a lip liner so the outline stays in place.
Although it is a matte formula it does not feel drying on the lips, instead it is lightweight and doesn’t make your lips look chapped. However if you do have dry lips I would suggest putting on some lip balm before applying.

3. Rimmel Kate Matte 107

Such a classic. This beauty had to make it’s way onto my top 7 lipsticks for Fall. If you have never heard / seen this lipstick – where have you been?! A bright deep red with a pink tone, almost a raspberry colour but not quite. This was my first bold lipstick I ever owned and the colour and formulation is incredible.

4. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Love Liberty
This is a new edition to my lipstick collection. It’s a rosy berry shade that’s definitely a great colour for Fall, but can also be used throughout the rest of the year as it’s just soft enough to be worn in spring and summer if you wanted a statement matte lip.

An added bonus with this lipstick is the shape of the bullet. The squared top helps you to apply it evenly and more accurately compared to the normal shaped bullet.

5. Revlon ColorBurst in Sultry

So this isn’t technically a lipstick, but it’s a great lip product that practically acts like a lipstick. The Revlon ColorBursts are some of my favourite on the go lip products. Not only are they easy to apply (even without a mirror) they are creamy, comfortable to wear and easy to reapply throughout the day. This particular shade is matte and lasts quite a long time for me, although I do have to reapply after a while, it does not bunch up on top of any remaining product you have on your lips.

I’m finding it hard to describe this colour because whenever I look at the swatch on my hand I swear it changes colour! But if I had to pick, I’d say it was a pinky berry with a hint of mauve… if that made any sense… probably not haha.

6. MAC Plumful

Plumful is a darker version of Syrup – a pinky mauve, or as quite a lot have people have called it’s like “a rosy plum” shade. Again it is a lustre finish (can you tell I like this finish?), it is comfortable and is definitely a firm go-to favourite.

7. L’Oreal Colour Riche in Blushing Berry

And lastly we have a gorgeous lipstick from L’Oreal. Unfortunetly I can’t seem to find this in the UK (I bought mine while I was in America), but I think the closest one out of this range would be the one called Berry Plum.

Blushing Berry is a cool toned berry with an almost raspberry tint to it. The finish is similar to the MAC lustre as it has a creamy sheerness to it, yet the pigmentation coats the lips very well. L’Oreal Color Riche lipsticks are some of the best in the drugstore, so definitely check them out.

I've just bought the Revlon colourburst in Sultry after reading your blog for a bit of beauty inspiration. I always struggle to find everyday lipsticks I actually like and in particular finding a good matte lipstick is weirdly difficult… but I'm pretty chuffed with this one :)Perfect for this time of year. Thanks for trying out all these lipsticks so that we don't have to!

That's awesome to hear, thank you so much!
I still keep Revlon's sultry in my bag everyday – it's just such a good colour to keep on hand x
