Fall is my favourite season for so many reasons, so I decided to write about post about it.
Before I confuse anyone: I am from the UK but I prefer to say Fall instead of Autumn. I know Fall is the American way of saying it, but I just prefer it because to me it seems fitting seen as it’s that time of year when leaves fall. Plus there’s something about saying Fall that adds a cosy feeling around it, but maybe that’s just me…
1. Fall Fashion
Cosy sweaters and ankle boots are my go to staples for Fall. You cannot go wrong with a ‘lazy’ put together look. Imagine if you will: a sweater that’s slightly baggy, maybe one that goes off your shoulder, or even a structured sweater (maybe a top underneath depending how cold it is), ripped jeans, a pair of casual ankle boots and your favourite go to bag. It’s an easy throw on outfit that can look chic and put together without really trying.
But let’s be real, this season is just an excuse to buy cosy knits and blankets to add to my ever growing collection. You can never have too many, right?
If you’ve read myUnderrated Accessory: The Scarf post you’ll know that I’m a sucker for a good scarf. I especially love those big blanket scarves that you can wrap yourself up in on cold Autumn/Winter evenings. Some my favourite are from Zara, they just do some great quality blanket scarves with great colours and patterns. Honestly I would love to buy every single one from Zara, but my other half might have something to say about that haha!
Oranges, reds, browns, plums, any colour with richness makes my day. Although I do love a good grey sweater.
4. Sweet & Spicy: Scents & Flavours
Is there anything better then the smell of pumpkin spice, cinnamon or caramel. Nope.
Pumpkin spice is most definitely, without a doubt my FAVOURITE thing about Fall. Bold claim I know, but there’s just something about it that makes me happy. Whether it’s the scent from a candle or a cheeky Starbucks PSL and pumpkin loaf.
By the way if your as obsessed with pumpkin spice and pumpkin spice lattes then be sure to check out my Pumpkin Spice Donuts!
Although I love candles all year round there’s something extra special about lighting a candle in Fall / Winter, maybe it’s the cosy aspect that I love so much.
Some my must haves are: pumpkin spice (obviously) from almost any company, although I do love the candles from Bath and Body Works, but Homesense and TKMaxx have some really lovely ones in at the moment. Of course Yankee Candle has to be mentioned, I love Home Sweet Home and Fireside Treats for this season, but I’ve seen their new seasonal collection online and I’m desperate to smell Autumn Night and Ebony and Oak.
6. It’s Magical
Maybe it’s just me, but although Christmas is seen as the most magical time of the year I only find it magical if it snows. Of course the lights, smells and the fact that everyone is cheerful makes the season very festive, but I won’t say magical.
In Fall when the leaves change colour and fall, it starts to get colder and you light multiple candles or perhaps light a fire, while cosying up on the sofa with a blanket and a pumpkin spice latte, or hot chocolate with marshmallows (because why not?), feels so much more magical to me.
I LOVE carving pumpkins! I cannot explain how much I love to stencil out different faces and animals so they look awesomely creepy. Plus carving pumpkins with The Nightmare Before Christmas on in the background is just perfect.
Something I have always wanted to do for Halloween is decorate my home like a haunted house, with spiders webs everywhere and things that pop out at you, but let’s be honest A) I’m not made of money and B) some of the best decorations I’ve seen are in America and I’m in the UK… Maybe I should move there for Halloween!
I’d love to know what your favourite things about Fall and if you’ve got any candle recommendations for me, so leave me a comment below and I’ll be sure to check them out!
