Peppermint Hot Chocolate

It’s the first of December, and you know what that means right??

Which in turn means that I will be playing Christmas tunes from when I wake up to just before I go to bed. Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration… slightly… I’ll also be watching Christmas movies at every opportunity haha.

So whilst you’re writing your Christmas cards, wrapping some presents, or perhaps you’ve started watching you favourite feel good Christmasy film, why not make yourself a festive cup of peppermint hot chocolate.

Not only is it super to easy to make, but you can customise it however you’d prefer. For example, if you cannot find a candy cane (it took me a while to find the one you see in the photos) you can substitute it by using a couple of drops of peppermint extract to give you that lovely flavour. Also, you don’t have to use cream – I don’t even like cream (plus I have an allergy to it), but you know how it is, it looks amazing for photos #basicblogging. Instead I prefer to add a few too many marshmallows as my topping.

So why not make yourself a cup and enjoy it on the sofa snuggled under a blanket.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate

Candy cane

Squirty cream (optional)

Optional extra: peppermint extract.

1. Make your favourite hot chocolate. If you want to make your hot chocoalte very pepperminty then add a couple of drops of peppermint extract. Personally I find this can be a little too strong for me, so instead I wait for the candy cane to melt into the hot chocolate to give it that wonderful peppermint flavour.
2. Add a layer of marshmallows on top. If you like to add cream on top then add some on top of the marshmallows – this way the cream doesn’t automatically sink into the hot chocolate.
3. Now decorate with marshmallows, grated chocolate or anything else you like. Add a candy cane to one side and enjoy!
