I feel like we all have a skincare pamper routine of some kind, whether very small or incredibly in-depth with around 23 products in tow.
I don’t believe a skincare pamper session should be scheduled for a certain day of the week, but we all have that moment where we have a little more time than usual, which we carve out for ourselves as ‘me time’ – if you don’t, you should. You might use that time to have a bath (with or without a glass of wine), chill out with some Netflix, or pamper your skin – or do I dare suggest all three! Don’t worry, you can thank me later for the idea 😉
Here are some of my favourite go to products for a pamper session.
The Origins Retexturising Mask with rose clay gives my skin a light exfoliation while cleaning my skin of impurities – but not as much as a detox mask like my Fresh Umbrian Clay mask. It’s as though it clears the canvas, leaving my skin smooth and soft, and gives my skin a brighter, slightly glowy complexion – something I severely lack thanks to my dull skin.
My next product is something I picked up when I went on holiday last September: the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair eye masks. Seen as I’m in love with the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Complex, and I’ve read good things about them I thought I’d give them a try. Plus who doesn’t love a good eye/face mask.
I find that these are amazing if my under eyes look extremely tired and… the only word I can think of is ‘rough’, but you get what I mean. Not only do they hydrate my under eyes, they give my eyes a boost of radiance which instantly helps me feel better – even after a 12hr flight. The main reason I would use these after a flight and not during is because there are other eye masks that would give your eyes a hydrating boost inflight, and they’re cheaper. Hence why I save these particular ones for a pamper evening. Plus a little bit of luxury makes me feel good.
Full disclosure: I do not use these every week. I don’t have the money to be able to buy these every month, or even every 4 months, so these are saved as a little luxury treat when I feel like my eyes need a helping hand after a long flight, or when I’ve got home from a road trip and look and feel so haggard.
I don’t think I need to write much about the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Complex because I’ve sung its praises A LOT. But it’s one product I cannot live without in my skincare routine. It gives my skin that little umph that’s a little hard to describe because the product doesn’t have instant transforming qualities, instead it’s a gradual one that works over time (or at least it does with me). But when I ran out and refused to purchase it a few months before going on holiday last year (therefore getting it cheaper due to duty free *winks*), I started to notice that my skin looked quite dull. When I say dull I mean DULL – like, almost grey kind of dull, and no other skincare item was helping. Thankfully that all changed when I finally picked some up, and within a few days of using it again I noticed that my skin was getting back to it’s normal self again.
I don’t know why or how, but it’s one of my holy grail products I don’t think I’ll ever part with, and I’m looking forward to trying more from Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair range.
And finally, the optional add on to this routine…
The most recent addition to my skincare has been the Glossier Moisturising Moon Mask. This mask is designed to be a soothing hydrating mask for drier skin types, however I still use it and I have oily/combination skin (and potentially slightly dehydrated), so I think it can work for all skin types.
It says to leave it on for 20 minutes and wash off, but after trying this once and not noticing much of a difference I started to use this as an overnight mask. Initially I loved how hydrated my skin felt the next morning, but I’m not sure if I have over used it, or maybe because it’s now spring/summer my skin isn’t as dry, but it doesn’t seem to work as well as it did. Although I still use it for a hydration pick me up every week or so, it’s not something I feel like I need at present. However I can say without a doubt I will be using this more during the colder months as my skin needs all the help it can get then. Hands up who’s the same?
I hope you enjoyed my little round up on pampering skincare products.
